Steve Kean has said that that he wants Christopher Samba to stay at the club who instead of leaving. Kean notched his first victory as Rovers boss at West Brom and was also buoyed by Samba's apparent U-turn.

"I am delighted to say he [Samba] does not want to hand in that transfer request," Keane said after the 3-1 win.

"Christopher might have been misquoted. He assured me he never said he wanted to leave."

Kean had previously said Samba wanted to leave Blackburn, also stripping the player of the captaincy.

Blackburn have been linked with bids for Emmanuel Adebayor and Craig Bellamy in the January transfer window.
